My Cathay finally arrived!

The parcel finally turned up today - and had only been posted yesterday, not last Thursday/Friday as notified. Also had an email to say the shop is actually physically moving to Devon, think they are currently in Wales!

I ordered 2 of the Duck Egg to be on the safe side (and I love that colour anyway). First time I have handled Cathay yarn and am most impressed, it feels very smooth and soft and has a very slight sheen.

I am now enabled to start the jacket - but I'm currently doing 2 scarves at once, one for DH and one for my Dad, I have the BdF jacket to finish too. I've been putting off ripping out part of the back, will try to do it this weekend. I just want to finish the thing now, would be handy to be able to wear it in current weather :-)

Oh, that's a relief, but it seems that we maybe shouldn't use them until they have moved at least? Not the greatest of service.

I'm not starting yet. Let's wait for Seahorse. Although I think she may be some time! Anyhoo, I'm not quite ready in my head.

It's warm here.

No rush to start from here :-) The weather is certainly warming up, it's breezy here which is keeping it from being totally summery, but nice all the same!

I would have thought the shop would email you if there was a problem, it's a more surefire way of contacting people. Not sure I'm going to use them again. Kemps have a very good price on Sirdar Luxury Cotton BTW, and on the Patons cotton which is cheaper :-)

Yarn looks fab!

Ooh! I'm being waited for! What a terrible responsibility! I have my Vogue cardi to finish (edges and sleeves - not too long) and then if I haven't picked a yarn I will just stick a pin in a shade card and go with that!

No, no. We want to wait. You're giving us a good excuse to put it off. We have plenty of other things to finish. No hurry at all :D

Lol! I need an incentive to get going!

I'm looking at 100% cottons... better shade ranges but would it all be just too heavy??? Hmm...

Have you looked at Rowan Wool Cotton? There is a great dark green in the shade book! (Deepest Olive).

No worries about starting here - definitely got plenty to keep me occupied.

I have looked at the RWC. Hard to tell from the screen but I thought it looked more woolly that cottony (if you know what I mean). If I'm going with woolly I'm happy enough with the DB Merino - cheaper too, lol!

Thanks for suggesting it though, as you've probably gathered, all opinions and advice very welcome!

RWC is more woolly than cottony. I think it's a very nice yarn to knit with. I'm not an experienced knitter and so I don't know whether a wool-cotton would be any better for a jacket than the DB Merino? Would the cotton element make it any more 'structured' or is that not necessary?

Wanted to say I emailed Anna to tell her about the KAL.

Ooh great stuff!

I've not actually knitted with the RWC yet but have some to do a top with, I agree it's a bit more wool-ly than cotton-y.

Ooh, I hope Anna will be able to drop by, although I also hope she won't be horrified by my colour scheme thoughts :0

I've gone back to looking at Cathay now. I've (sadly) abandoned Sharpe on the grounds that I can't find a 'just right' yarn and am thinking along the lines of black with gold and that khaki-ish colour (01, 05 and 06).
